YOU DID IT. 🎉 You conquered your goal. You finished that big race that was on your calendar. Maybe you even PRed! Now what? It's been (x)-amount of weeks since the big day and now you're feeling kind of... lost. Without purpose. You're thinking "What the hell am I supposed to do now?!" You feel sad. You think you're gaining weight. You're going crazy. Well let me tell you friend, you're not alone. Post-race blues are a real thing! .
Everyone handles the blues a different way and there's no right or wrong answer with how you choose to deal with it. Last year after the marathon I was so exhausted from the months of work I put into training and dealing with an injury and the LAST thing I wanted to do was run. On the flip side, after this year's marathon I felt totally different. I had such an epic PR, it was a great training cycle, and I was excited to get back out there and run! I reveled in the greatness of the hard work I put in during the training cycle, and I took a full two weeks off to let my body properly recover (and hopefully you did too!) Now I'm back, I'm fresh, and I'm ready for a plan. .
My goals for the next few months?
1. Strength training! 💪🏻 I am SO excited to get back into a routine. I miss lifting heavy weights! This is my off-season from running any goal races so there's no better time to get my butt back in the saddle.
2. I'm running the Jingle Bell Jog 5k in December. 🎅🏻🎄I haven't run a 5k race this year and this will be a fun way to end 2019.
3. I'm running the Disney Half Marathon in January with some friends! 🐭 It's @misterlamasa first half marathon EVER so I’m helping him with his training plan and I'm really excited to run a fun race outside of NYC!
4. Cheer! 🗣I'm excited to cheer runners on for the NYC Half and the Brooklyn Half! You guys are always cheering me on, it's time for me to repay the favor!
What are YOUR off-season goals? Don’t have any yet? That's ok too! Take some time soon and write down a couple of ideas. Creating a plan is the best way to help you reshift, refocus, and get excited about some new goals. •
